Growth in Brookline

Improving Housing Market Evident at Hammondswood at Chestnut Hill, Brookline
New Development Sees Growth in Brookline

Brookline’s newest luxury condominiums, Hammondswood at Chestnut Hill, show the promise of a rapidly improving housing market. With over 20% committed to the project, developers recently completed the pouring of the concrete and started the installation of steel frame. According to the developer’s Senior Vice President John Meunier of Boston Development Group, by marking the completion of its pre construction phase, the project is ahead of schedule towards its March 2008 move in date.

David Zussman, founder of Boston Development Group, states the reason for Hammondswood’s success is simple, “Great location, top quality construction and very competitive pricing.” In the heart of Chestnut Hill surrounded by fine restaurants and shops, Hammondswood is minutes from the Atrium and Chestnut Hill Malls, supermarkets, movie theatres, 18 hole public golf course and public transportation.

BDG’s understanding of the needs of the luxury buyer stems from half a century of experience as an innovative leader in the condominium market throughout New England.
Starting at $555,000, these homes come with a choice of 22 different floor plans and include standard amenities like marble baths, walk-in closets, hardwood flooring, 9 foot ceilings and underground parking. Units continue to sell quickly in this uncommon complex.

As well as bringing new life to the housing market, the new development plans to bring another kind of growth to Chestnut Hill. Boston Development Group and The American Chestnut Foundation of Bennington, Vermont, will re-introduce the American Chestnut Tree to this area. The extensive landscaping plan for Hammondswood at Chestnut Hill includes the planting of 50 new American chestnut trees. This unique decision will not only return the “true king of the forest” to native soil but provide the owners at Hammondswood a unique buffer from their neighbors.

The developers, celebrating their 50th year in business, are not new to the area with offices in Newton Centre at Piccadilly Square which they developed and currently manage. Beside varied properties in Boston and along the East Coast, they have also built numerous condominiums, apartments and town houses in Brookline and Newton.

A marketing office for Hammondswood is located at 1200 Boylston Street in Chestnut Hill, opposite the Star Market (Shaw's). Managed by Marketing Director Beth Florentino, this headquarters offers prospective buyers and neighbors a glimpse at a model unit.
